Lyle Wayne Cook, age 91 of Morrice passed away Monday, December 23, 2019 at his home with his family by his side. Per his wish’s cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on March 21, 2020 at 1:00 PM at the Okemos Masonic Lodge at 2175 Hamilton Rd.
Wayne was born March 13, 1928 in Bunker Hill Township to Glen Russell and Marguerite (Abbot) Cook. He resided in Webberville after getting married. Was one of fifteen children; six survive him. He served honorably in the United States Army during WWII. He returned home to raise a family. He found work in the road construction industry for many years ~ later working for GLS Heating and Cooling for nine years as well as St. Lawrence Hospital for another ten years; in which he retired. Wayne enjoyed being outdoors; hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, archery, riding his motorcycle. His greatest love was that of his family.
Wayne is survived by his wife; Nancy (Hewitt) Cook of nineteen years, his children; Kenneth L. (Karen) Cook, Carlene Bell and Cherie Swain, his step-children; Aaron DeFreese, Melissa (Tony) Ferrigan, Crystal (Chris) Jones, and Alisha DeFreese, fourteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, his siblings; Russell Cook, George (Arlene) Cook, Jack (Darlene) Cook, Larry (Sharon) Cook, Shirley (Jim) Lee, and Barb (Wayne) Vibbert, also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law; Sherry (Don) Laux, Debbie (Al) Argamedo, Jackie Kuykendoll, Kirt Hewitt, and Kris (Gladys) Hewitt, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, his first wife; Rose, his son; Kenneth Wayne Cook, grandson; Gary Stuart Wright, four brothers and four sisters.
