All restaurant dining rooms and bars in the state of Michigan remain closed as Governor Whitmer ordered all residents to "Stay Home, Stay Safe" on Monday.  However, Executive Order 2020-21, continues to allow restaurants to operate takeout, drivethru and delivery service, and allows residents to leave their home to buy food.  This is a tremendous opportunity for us all to continue to support our local businesses in this very difficult time.

On Thursday, March 19th, Perry-Laingsburg Pulse and our fellow local news websites kicked off the "Shiawassee Takeout Tour," to encourage you and others to patronize local establishments, even as their dining rooms were not available.  When Governor Whitmer initially issued her Executive Order, we were afraid this would put a stop to the tour, but the text of the order allows our local eateries to continue to operate and allows us to continue to support them, so that's what we need to do!  The same is true for our local grocery store and all other local businesses that have been deemed essential and remain open.

Just be sure to practice social distancing during this time.  That means staying at least 6 feet away from others if you are in a public space.  This helps curb the spread of Coronavirus.

There are now more than 1,300 cases in Michigan and hundreds more are being reported each day.  There have been 15 deaths in Michigan so far.  Get daily updates here.

So get your grub and #EatUP while you "Stay Home, Stay Safe."

There's a lot more from Perry-Laingsburg Pulse to see and hear, including this week's top stories! Keep going!
