A balloon release behind JC Penney in Owosso kicked off the first ever Shiawassee County Suicide Awareness Walk on Wednesday, September 19th. Hundreds of people walked the James Miner Trail's approximately three miles, ending at McCurdy Park in Corunna, in honor of friends or family lost to suicide, and to bring to light the many resources available to people that may be having thoughts of self harm. The walk was organized by Shiawassee Health & Wellness. Sheriff Brian BeGole was among those that participated.
