Shiawassee Council on Aging: Morrice Senior Center is hosting the following activities and events for the month of June.

On Friday June 1st, a Podiatrist will visit. Appointments are required for this service.

On Wednesday June 6th from 12:30-2:00 there will be an art class featuring Spring/Summer Flowers in Watercolor. Explore watercolor techniques with the basics as a beginner or enjoy a refresher if you have experience. There is a $3 fee for those 60 and older and a $5 fee for those under 60 (or those not Shiawassee County residents). Reservations are required.

On Friday June 8th hearing checks will be offered by Michigan Hearing from 10:00-12:00. This free service is based on a first come first served basis.

Friday June 15th at 12:30 celebrate Father’s Day with a special prize bingo.

On Monday June 18th free blood pressure checks will be offered by Central Pharmacy of Perry from 12:30-1:30.

On Wednesday June 20th there will be an art class featuring “Patriotic Painting” from 12:20 to 2:00. Create a small flag or patriotic painting using acrylic on barn wood just in time for the 4th of July. There is a $3 fee for those 60 and older and a $5 fee for those under 60 (or those not Shiawassee County residents). Again, reservations are required.

Monday June 25th the Morrice Site Committee will hold its monthly meeting at 11:00. Everyone is welcome to attend.

On Wednesday June 27th come out for an “Ice Cream Social” at 12:30. Reservations are required by Monday June 25th. Grand kids are welcome. You can either purchase their lunch for $3 or bring them a sack lunch.

The center hosts bingo every Monday following lunch. The euchre group continues to meet Monday & Thursday afternoons at 1:30 p.m. and Pedro is played on the second Tuesday of the month at 1:00 p.m. Exercise class is held every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30. WII Bowling is played every Wednesday at 11:00. In addition, the center will host an Alzheimer’s Support Group on June 11th & 25th at noon and a Diabetic Support Group on June 8th at 1:00.

Lunch is served three days a week, Monday, Wednesday, & Friday at noon; if you are interested in coming please call the center at 517-625-4270 or come in the day prior to make your reservation for the next day. Please note that the center has adopted new hours: Monday, Wednesday, & Friday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. & Tuesday, Thursday 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. For further information or questions, feel free to call the center at 517-625-4270.

The Shiawassee County Health Department is conducting a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Saturday May 19, 2018 from 8 a.m. – Noon at Perry City Hall located at 203 W. Polly St. Perry, MI. HHW program funding is provided by Shiawassee County Waste Management fund.
