Recreational Marijuana Use Becomes Lawful in Michigan Today

Today is an historic day. The recreational use of marijuana is now legal in the state of Michigan. We've got some basic information that you should have if you plan to smoke.

The minimum age to possess and consume is 21. Up to 2.5 ounces is allowed at any time. Up to 10 ounces can be kept in your home but amounts higher than 2.5 ounces must be locked up. You can grow up to 12 plants in your home without a license.
Retail sales are not expected to begin for at least a year still, and local communities can ban the retail sale of marijuana, but cannot ban possession and consumption by adults that are of age.
Driving under the influence of marijuana remains unlawful.
Public consumption is prohibited.
Additionally, employers are still legally allowed to ban marijuana use by employees.
