When Laingsburg residents went to the polls on Tuesday May 7th 2019, they said "yes" to Laingsburg Schools' proposed bond.  With nearly 70% of precincts reporting, nearly 70% of voters signed off on the proposal.  It was one of many mid-Michigan districts whose ballot initiatives were supported overwhelmingly.

It appears, however, to be a "hard no" from Shiawassee County voters on the County Jail Millage.  While most we heard from ahead of Tuesday's election acknowledged that a new jail is needed, many questioned the cost of the $70 million project.

One resident asked why the proposed Shiawassee County Jail would cost $70 million while Saginaw County will see a new jail at nearly half that cost.

Final results from Tuesday's election aren't in yet but the latest numbers can be found here.
