Shiawassee Council on Aging: Morrice Senior Center is hosting the following activities and events for the month of September. Wednesday September 5th there will be an art class at 12:30pm featuring “Notes of Nature.” Come and paint wooden birdhouses to the tune of the great outdoors. Room is limited for this class so you will need to sign up early. There is a $3 fee for those 60 and older and a $5 fee for those under 60 (or those not Shiawassee County residents).

On Friday September 7th a podiatrist will visit. Appointments are required for this service. Also on Friday September 7th, Morrice Police Chief Matt Balsley and Echo will visit at 12:30.
Monday September 10th there will be a flu clinic from 12:45-1:15pm provided by Central Pharmacy of Perry. If you cannot make this one there will be another flu clinic on Monday Oct 15th.
On Wednesday September 12th at 12:30 there will be a presentation on “Food Safety” by Jeannettee Brunetti. On Monday September 17th Central Pharmacy of Perry will offer free blood pressure checks from 12:30 -1:30pm.
Wednesday September 19th there will be an art class featuring Make a Clay Leaf Dish from 12:20 to 2:00pm. Bring a fresh leaf that you may find along your path. This dish requires firing and glazing that will be done at the October 3rd class. Again, there is a $3 fee for those 60 and older and a $5 fee for those under 60 (or those not Shiawassee County residents). Reservations are required.
On Monday September 24th the Morrice Site Committee will hold its monthly meeting at 11am. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The center hosts bingo every Monday following lunch. The euchre group continues to meet Monday & Thursday afternoons at 1:30pm and Pedro is played on the second Tuesday of the month at 1pm. Exercise class is held every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30am. Wii Bowling is played every Wednesday at 11am.
In addition, the center will host an Alzheimer’s Support Group on September 10th and 24th at noon.
Lunch is served three days a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday at noon; if you are interested in coming please call the center at 517-625-4270 or come in the day prior to make your reservation for the next day. Please note that the center has adopted new hours: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9am to 4pm and Tuesday and Thursday 9am to 11am.
