MORRICE SENIOR CENTER APRIL EVENTS

Shiawassee Council on Aging: Morrice Senior Center is hosting the following activities and events for the month of April. Wednesday April 4 from 12:30-2:00 there will be an art class featuring watercolor painting with a “Think Spring” theme. There is a $3 fee for those 60 and older and a $5 fee for those under 60 (or those not Shiawassee County residents). Reservations are required. Monday April 9 from 3-4 is Tech Support with the help of the Morrice Honor Society. Friday April 13 Michigan Hearing will offer hearing checks from 10-12. This service is free and is based on a first come first served basis.  

Monday April 16 from 12:30 to 1:30 free blood pressure checks will be offered by Visiting Doctors. Wednesday April 18 there will be an art class featuring “Paint a Terra-Cotta Pot” from 12:20 to 2:00. These pots can be used for herbs or flowers. There is a $3 fee for those 60 and older and a $5 fee for those under 60 (or those not Shiawassee County residents). Again, reservations are required. Saturday April 21 the Morrice Site Committee will hold a bake sale at Carl’s Market in Perry starting at 11:00. Monday April 23 at 1:00 “Plant a Seed” to celebrate Earth Day. Monday April 30 the Morrice Site Committee will hold its monthly meeting at 11:00. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The center hosts bingo every Monday following lunch. The euchre group continues to meet Monday & Thursday afternoons at 1:30 p.m. and Pedro is played on the second Tuesday of the month at 1:00 p.m. Exercise class is held every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30. In addition, the center will host an Alzheimer’s Support Group on April 9 & 23 at noon and a Diabetic Support Group on April 13.

Lunch is served three days a week, Monday, Wednesday, & Friday at noon; if you are interested in coming please call the center at 517-625-4270 or come in the day prior to make your reservation for the next day. Please note that the center has adopted new hours: Monday, Wednesday, & Friday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. & Tuesday, Thursday 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. For further information or questions, feel free to call the center at 517-625-4270.

A ribbon cutting was held on Tuesday March 13th to welcome the brand new Johnny V's Smoke Shack to Perry.  Johnny V's in Perry will open to the public on Monday, March 19th, located at 3062 W. Britton Road.
